What do you think about people who get a tattoo of their pets?

I'm curious. Really I've never even considered such a thing until my dog of nearly 10 years, the dog I grew up with, passed away. Now I'm putting into consideration of getting a memorial tattoo of him sometime down the line. What are your thoughts on people who get tattoos of their living or dead pets? Sweet and sentimental or looney?
