I have been wait listed for many classes. The best bet is to show up on the first day of the class. Not everyone registered in the class will show up, then the prof will go down the waitlist and take anyone who is standing there. Even if you contact a prof directly he probably will not raise your spot on the list. Go to every class and you will probably get into half of them. Good luck!

Like many others I am in a financial crunch in order to pay college tuition. I have spent the last year getting a total of 60 credit hours so I could attend a University, in that time I realized that I am not good at math or science and that I should not be a doctor, but my GPA has suffered. This being said there is little funding available. I am in a single parent home that has been hit hard, suffering foreclosure and other economic hardships. I found out that I have a passion for criminology and would really like a chance to pursue this. I have filled out the fasfa form.I also work about 35 hours a week. Does anyone have suggestions? What are my chances of getting into these colleges for Pre-Medicine or Biology?

First off I'm not an Admission's officer at all, so I wont sit here and pretend I am, I think that by taking All Honors and AP courses that you're showing you enjoy challenging work and that you can handle college work which of course colleges and universities love, also the fact that you're active in your community is a good thing. When you think in terms of applying to college don't think too much about how m any things you're doing but think about which of the things are you most dedicated and interested in. I once knew of a girl who was valedictorian of her class, had all these E.C.'s but wasn't truly invested in them and her college admissions essay reflected that, she didn't get in to many of the schools she wanted to because of that. Your SAT score is a tad weak for some of these schools except for Rutgers NB and Monmouth(( believe Penn State also) that I know of, but being an Honors and AP student you should do tons better your second time around with some hard work. Regardless of these schools SAT and GPA ranges you want to have the best possible GPA and SAT score especially if you want to be Pre-Med because it's very competitive. I think that overall you seem to be a well-rounded hard working student and it is important that you demonstrate this when applying to colleges. I apologize if this isn't helpful but the truth is no one can(or SHOULD--people will sit here and try anyways) to tell you that you can get into this school but not the other and definitely this one and not definitely not that one. All colleges look for different things in their students regardless of a few blunders they will admit a student that they find fits into the profile they are trying to build.

The other 3 are original cartoon sells of 2 scenes from Garfield and 1 scene from Looney Toons. Almost 8 years ago my husband began speaking to a girl who lives in Australia, every time he has tried to quit talking to her she has gained access to his contact list for his phone that is synchronized with his gmail account and begins calling everyone on the list. Last november she set up a complete scam of her being abducted and raped and had a three year old child with her, obviously my husband believing this to be true called police and fbi got involved because of possible abduction. The whole story was completely made up, my husband ended up being arrested even though the fbi saw all the messages she was sending (she was not even in the country she set scam up from australia). Now she is calling companies I deal with trying to get all my information. She was able to access his cell phone account and change all his information on it, and is now sending threatening messages about contacting his probation officer to make sure his life is completely F**ked. I attend college and she has tried withdrawling me from college. She is a complete nut job, and after speaking to FBI that dealt with this to begin with the only thing they are telling me that we can do is get a restraining order. Why is she not being dealt with? He was on house arrest for 6 months and could not go anywhere and she showed up where he had to stay. Of course she was forced to leave, but the fact remains the same, he couldn't go anywhere, and if she were to do something he would not have been able to protect himself. We have a 10 year old son, and she has called on his cell phone, it is completely out of control and I can't seem to get any answers on how to get this person to stop. We are completely afraid to do anything where she might be able to get our information, find out where we live now, and afraid that she may do something else. I am at a loss and feel completely helpless, my husband doesn't know what to do, because if he doesn't answer her she goes completely balistic. Like I said we have made contact with FBI and now with an attorney, however she keeps going and it doesn't seem after almost 8 years that there is ever going to be an end to this. We know she has relatives here so she comes to the states, and this is what scares us, what is she gonna do when she is here? I would greatly appreciate it if someone could give me some answers on this, this is beyond stalking and is ruining our lives. Please help.

Skipping 11th grade consequences?

My school counselor told me that I have the option to totally skip eleventh grade and become a Senior next year. Today she said that some colleges want seven transcripts and although they'll attach a note explaining the missing one, that it could hurt my opportunities to get into some colleges. The main universities I'm looking at are UC-Berkeley (unlikely), Stanford (unlikely), University of Washington, and NYU. Does anybody know about these schools in particular or just about schools in general?

So, its my freshman year and i just finished finals. All my final grades are A's (90, 93, 94, 95, 95, 96, 96, 99) but i have one 89. Is that 89 going to hurt me when, lets say, an ivy leauge looks at my transcript? Also, all my final exam grades are fairly well, randing from 84- 100, but i have one 79 because of stupid mistake. I want to be a Registered Dietitian, and I know I need to go through a CADE certified program to get my license, but the college I'm attending my freshman year doesn't have that program. The college offers biology, chemistry, and health for majors (that I think are more related to nutritonal science than not), and of those I thought Bio is the closest related major. I know that as a freshman it doesn't really matter, but I want to transfer to a college that has the CADE certified stuff for my sophomore year. And the college I have in mind is highly competitive. Is taking out student loans a good idea? Why or why not?

It depends on how much your tuition is, and I'm pretty sure the major doesn't matter since the tuition is a flat rate regardless of what major you choose. Taking out loans is unfortunately what most people need to do in order to go to college. The plus side is there certain student loans that don't make you pay until 6 months after you graduate from college and the interest rates are either non-existant or very low. Plus, it helps build credit which will be beneficial for you in the future when you want to buy a car/house. Hope this helps!

Apply for different jobs, one's that don't require these skills. Also, look into "testing out" on these classes: you can take the AP exams and get credit, and then say, "I didn't take those classes because I tested out on the AP exams." You can also try interning at these companies: offer them two weeks' of your time as an intern, and do other volunteer work while you're at it. You can also sign up for Peace Corps, too, and get experience that way.

Why is America still so racist?

I swear, everywhere I go, there is racism. For example, I attend a very diverse college and I attend that college because I love to meet people from all nationalities and racial backgrounds. I have an African-American friend in one of my classes that I have known for years (were best friends), and I am white. Everyone in the classroom looks at us strange when we joke around because, obviously, were different colored. People in the class on multiple occasions have asked why he hangs around me and why I hang around him (yes we hear you racist bigots in the background lol). But you know, we don't plan on going are separate ways after 25 years of friendship. So why is it that people of different races can't just get along? I mean, it's everywhere, racism needs to end because I really enjoy people of all cultures.

Even if you retake the D I believe UAMS will only factor in the D. That's how they used to do it. Also, med schools sometimes count W's as F's, like law school does. The D is a science class is much more alarming than the C in theatre. This alone probably will not keep you from getting into med school if you rock it the rest of the way and rock the MCAT, but you WILL need to do that.

Hi. I'm 15 years old (just turned) and I wish to become emancipated. At the moment the relationship between my parents and I has been escalated from verbal abuse to physical, my mum has punched me and usually pushes me, also tells me how much she regrets having me and that I'm useless. My dad was there for me until about a year ago where he became almost as bad we got into a fight about me being sick and not wanting to attend a restuaraunt and he pushed me on to a road (brunswick street in the city which is a very busy road) I would have landed in dead on traffic had I not caught myself on a car, the fight was because I said I wanted to go home because it's to hot and I was getting sunburnt. I don't feel safe in my current environment, walking on egg shells at home which causes me to behave quite differently at school, loud and distracted, I just need a place to be free where I can live my life with out screaming matches. I rarely fight back because it brings on more trouble, how long until it escalates to the point where it's gone to far?

She doesn't mean what she is saying or doing because pregnancy can make a woman act that way because of hormones. You say she has just came of citalopram which is also causing her weird behaviour. Try and live with her behaviour problems for a while because as the pregnancy goes on her hormones may settle and the withdrawal affects of her medication will ease. Pregnancy can cause a lot of mood swings and relationship break-ups but afterwards she can get back on her medication if needed and have a happy life with you and the kids. Don't do or say anything too irrational at the moment, give her time as she was a normal person before the pregnancy. Good Luck.

I know someone personally who got the wrong grade as his name was similar and probably a line below his on a printout. Immediately call, email and write to the school and follow up after you have done this. While it was not your mistake, unfortunately, it is up to you to make sure that it is fixed. I'm sorry your experience was so terrible when it comes to psychiatry. I've been in a mental health facility as well and I was not treated nearly as brutally as you were. I'm sure they're right about your ability to sue but please don't give up on psychiatry as a whole. I understand your experience was awful but some of them are generally trying to help their patients. Try to find a holistic psychologist in your area (avoid psychiatrists as they are the ones who prescribe medication). Holistic psychologists avoid medication and try to help you through holistic approaches, such as coping mechanisms and acupuncture. Don't give up on trying to find a psychologist that's right for you. Again, psychiatrists give out medication (that's their job) but psychologists can't. I hope this helps! Good luck!

Background Check Question?

When I applied for a recent job, I submitted my GPA on my application before my last semester was over. After my last semester, my GPA dropped one point (3.7 to a 3.6). Now that I got the offer, they are conducting a background check through Kroll. I'm afraid that when Kroll pulls my transcript (can they even do that?) they will see a 3.6 and not a 3.7 like I wrote on my application. Should I tell my employer? Should I notify Kroll directly? Why doesn't my mom want to drive me to school?

I will be attending a private school this August and it is 30 minutes away from where we currently live. This school is in a city and we live in a town far out in the country. I see religion as something that pulls us out of the gutters and gives us hope, the belief of a god that loves us, even when no one else does. Religion should not be preached or forced upon. I, Personaly, find it absurd when people state: "you are sinning against god for being gay, lesbian, or of a different sexual orientation" or "you must repent or you will burn in hell". It is fine to believe, pray and attend church, but when you force your beliefs into non-believers lives, where it is possibly unwanted, just smile and walk away. Some people go overboard with non-belief (Atheism) and protest against religion, the thing that gives people hope. No one has proof of god, but that gives no reason to bash other peoples beliefs. So much global and, mostly, civil war has been created by the beliefs of people who think they know wright from wrong, who think they know what you should follow or believe. Take Hitler for instance, he thought god was on his side, the swastika symbol was a German cross. Of course Hitler was horrible, but when average people on this site protest for what's wright and what's wrong, maybe you should stop and think next time your going to post something like "homosexuality is bad" or "religion is stupid" or "repent or you will go to hell", are my intentions really any better than there's, am I any better? You do that stuff you first semester of school as a senior. They'll have a transfer transcript request sign up sheet in the office of ur high school or with your counselor. U can apply for financial aid at any time but I would wait until you start school again and talker to your counselor because they'll help you through the process of fafsa and applying for scholarships. Everything is done first semester of your senior year. Also you need to send over your immunization records first semester but you'll do that in the office of your high school, your counselor will tell u everything. They'll prob have an assembly to discuss everything with you guys.

My mom thinks I'm gay?

I just came home from hanging out with my older sister when my mom called me into her room. I was kinda confused because she said she needed to talk to me and had a really stressed look on her face. Then she went on to say that she could believe I was disappointing God like that after all he'd blessed me with. I kept trying to explain the context of everything, but she absolutely refused to believe me. I ran out of the room crying after she threatened to tell my dad (who is a huge homophobe) and see how angry and disappointed he'd be of me. He actually made a comment last week saying that finding out one of his kids was gay would send him to his deathbed. But I'm NOT GAY! I even have a boyfriend of 4 months who she knows about. I'm crying like crazy and contemplating running away because she won't believe me and she's gonna ruin my relationship wit my dad and tear the whole family apart with this "secret" of hers that isn't even true. How can I tell my parents I am moving out for good?

This is a tough situation. I understand their feelings but as much as they care for you they are being selfish without even realizing it. I'm not sure how old you are but obviously you are old enough to make your own decisions and be on your own. They should be proud that they have raised you to be a responsible caring adult. If you weren't I doubt that you would be this concerned about their feelings. You just need to tell them that you love them but they have done their job in raising you well and that it is time for you to start making a life for yourself outside of the home.Tell them that you are grateful for everything they have done for you but now the time has come for you to be an adult. Let them know that you will always be there for them no matter where you live. They may not like it at first but they will eventually come around. As awkward as it may be I think it best to talk to them now so that they have some time to prepare before you leave. This way by the time you actually move they will have had plenty of time to come to terms with your decision and will most likely be more accepting of your choice to move out. I think if you just wait until the last minute it will make things worse. They will be extremely upset and may even lose respect for you for not having the courage to discuss it with them before hand. It will be hard but they are your parents and they love you so I'm pretty sure they will still want you in their life even if you aren't living in the home. They will probably try to guilt you into staying but you just need to stand your ground. Letting go is a hard thing to do for a parent especially with having lost your siblings but you just need to remind them that you are only moving, not going away forever. I'm pretty sure it will all work out in the end.

Okay so, for a long time now, i've been dieting and exercising along with it obviously. Btw im a 14 year old girl, and my height is 5'6... weight, ill get into that later..(you'll see). So now for my exercise, i recently started running the mile... i was starting with once a week, then i eventually started running it almost everyday(trying) with the weather being crappy, rain etc. , also my brother, was taking me to the high school track where i live and that kind of stopped between him working, not having time, and being busy most of the time. So that stopped so i started instead walking down to my school which is literally a 6 minute walk away and running around the field 4 times or either the school(got sick of the field so just recently started running the school) which is a mile cause i did in gym class. I think this whole week, ever since monday, i've ran it everyday. i don't even know how to tell you my weigh and if its water or fat, it sucks! im either 157, 162,163,164,or 165. i was 163 last night, started out with 162 this morning, and now im 165! Ever since february, my doctor's appointment, i was 168, and i haven't seen that weight in a while so i think ive lost that.. i was told that i was not fat, but basically overweight for my age. I started cutting back little by little at that time, and it was hard for me so i stopped,(which i REALLY wish i didn't have) and started eating again, however somehow maintaining that weight(i forget howw) then it got easier in march, i figured out more ways, obviously april, and may... and i forget when but like i said i started running the mile little by little and now. So, my question is losing weight.. like more than 10.. but i actually think i know why this hasn't been going well is because the main reason, my dieting. It's been HORRIBLE and sooo hard for me. Between these awful cravings(my mom thinks im a sugar addict) and not being able to control it whatso ever. and the fact that i haven't been losing any weight, as much as i want to in this amount of time that im starting to give up then start up back again which is taking me incredibly soooo much amount of time than what i want it to. the beginning of today was going good for me, i was thinking about running the mile twice, but im soo tired and i just recently got a pain on the top of my leg, bottom, and it feels like a bruise and hurts running... there always has to be some freaking problem making it even HAAARDER for me! ugh! sorry.. the end of today though, not so good. i skipped dinner, thinking i would lose more, but it ended up backfiring me from being sooo hungry for the rest of the night. i did eat watermelon and a banana for dinner. but so farr ive aten 2 yogurts, two ice cream sandwhiches, ice cream, chips, i think maybe even a little bit more but yeah.... :( then i got really mad and started doing pushups and everything. i weighted myself, i was back at 165 and i totally gave up and started eating more but now, its stopped as i speak. My plan was to lose like all the extra fat off of me, so i could be skinny or thin again like 15-20 pounds before atleast summer, then it extended to 4th of july so i could be able to enjoy the food and wear nice clothing and look good and feel confident but now, 4th of july is just around the corner(3 days) and i have a party im attending and its not going to go well unless you could just magically lose 20 pounds in 3 days... maybe even just 10.... also, forget to mention, but my mom did say she has noticed a bloatyness i had on my face off and i look a bit less bloaty kind of that small layer of fat off if you know what i mean.... i dont get how that can happen when i was 168, 3 pounds more(well, depends if im still 165, never know with me i could go back down or whatever ugh) but that i dont get.. soooo.... I will be attending a private school this August and it is 30 minutes away from where we currently live. This school is in a city and we live in a town far out in the country. I used go live with my mother and her boyfriend (who is bipolar but refuses to take meds or acknowledge this, he was on meds at some point and time for it during his life). He is verbally abusive and has psychotic tendencies. He will be okay one moment and in a full blown rage another from the simpliest things such as a unclean room or a simple question. Last year I moved out because I could not take it anymore, he pushed me and annoyed me to take a stupid air conditioner that had been at the house so I did. I now have to return said ac and I couldn't afford this and I explained it and he went into a psychotic break, called my boyfriend house repeatedly only to scream "you will return this do you understand it is mine it belongs in my house you took this" repeatedly. I have clothes and other personal items in the house and he said that if I set foot on the property he will shoot me and call the cops..I'm bring the ac back tomorrow but I'm afraid once I do he won't let me get my personal items because it is ""his house"" which he has said before is tghat legal? . can I request that all of my things be taken out and then I will return it ? Question about student loans?

I accepted about $12,000 in student loans for the 2011-2012 year. On my award letter the loan is divided into three quarters, fall, winter, and spring. However I am not attending fall quarter. The financial aid office said that is ok, I can accept the loan for the full amount anyway. So will my loan be divided into the 3 quarters, so I get about 4,000 each quarter? Many grad schools won't consider you without at least a 3.0 GPA; anything below that is failing in grad school, and grad school classes are much harder than undergrad. You didn't mention what field you're going into - you need a PhD in a particular field to teach it, and some fields are far more competitive than others. For the sciences, you'll need to get some good research experience to have a shot at a decent grad school even if you do have a high GPA - low GPA and no research experience is a killer for applying to grad schools. And the level of the institution you earn your PhD at determines where you might get a job - that level or lower. You're not going from the University of Wyoming to get a job as a professor at Harvard. It's very hard to get a faculty job even if you do have a PhD and a ton of research in your field - less than 5% of PhDs in some fields get a job as a professor. This might not be the best choice of careers, but if it's really what you want, keep working on your GPA.

I have to go to this mental health place and i tried asking for help off my doctor to get a taxi to the other side of town and he said he can't do it and now i've had my disability stopped for not attending before, but its a struggle and i also have a disturbed sleep pattern and can't stop sleeping during the day. I am thinking about going to this school called St. Philips Academy in Newark, NJ. It goes from kindergarten to eighth grade, and it's a private school. How much time should be alloted to a college application?

I am starting the college application process in the fall and was curious to see how long it takes to complete a college application. Should I allot a few hours or a few days per application? And is it true that when you apply online, your SAT scores need to be sent by collegeboard and your letters of recommendation and your transcripts need to be sent directly from the school? So I would only be in charge of submitting my common app and essays? Then as the colleges receive my information they create a profile or a folder with all of my information and won't look at it until all parts have been received? Advice on applying to University?

Universities only look at your grade 12 marks. They will look at your grade 11 marks only for early acceptance. Otherwise they are negligible. When you start grade 12 they will give you a book or a website where you can look at the acceptance averages. They vary from year to year and from school to school. But also keep in mind if you are having problems with sciences now you may want to be open to other programs because science doesn't get easier when you go to university. Trust me I'm currently doing it. But based on your grade 11 grades i dont think you will have any major problems. Just work hard.

I would give it a B.I wrote my essays just like you and I always got a B. But the reason was that I didn't have enough parenthetical references.I think you could use some more of that and you could add a little bit more analysis to your individual paragraphs

How to stop being so thirsty?

Ever since I attended a workout program or whatever it's called, the coaches have been telling us to hydrate and so far I have been drinking water for a few weeks now and it's starting to be a habit of just drinking water all the time. And before I go to bed(which is the worse time to do this) I start drinking a lot of water I always keep a water bottle by my bedside and I drink so much water that by the time I get in bed the bottles all empty and I have been wondering how I can get myself to not drink so much water and why I'm drinking so much water and I don't even like water very much it feels like my tongue just wants water soooo bad. I'm attending college in the fall, majoring in International Studies with an emphasis in Middle Eastern studies, and taking Arabic. I want to join the Reserves and do basic training during the summer between my freshman and sophomore year. Which mos is better suited if eventually I want to work in the CIA? I'm 16 and my nipples are similar. I was really nervous about my boyfriend seeing me naked and i kept a top on whenever we had sex until i was confident enough to be fully naked in front of him. I now think that I shouldn't have been having sex with him if i didn't trust him enough to even see my body. Guys really like women to be confident with their bodies, it makes them more attractive. So if you feel comfortable I'm sure he'll feel more comfortable. If you really want them to look a bit smaller, you could make them cold (which makes them contract a bit and the nipple pokes out more, making it look less puffy) or lightly rub them, which will do pretty much the same thing. There are many guys out there who find large puffy nipples a big turn on! I've heard it from quite a few guys. Only let him see you if you really trust him and if he makes you feel happy. Never give in to a guy pressurising you. If he really likes you, he wont mind waiting until you're happy to show him.

My boyfriend and I have been together for a year, within that year I notice lots of changes?

We have gone through a lot since I came into the relationship with kids and not completely divorce. He accepted me as I was and we have gone through so much it's incredible! When I met my boyfriend he seem like the perfect man, tall, handsome, Smart, compassionate, caring, Ah!! CARING, is the key word here...all though not very sympathetic, he was someone who I can look up to, love and care unconditionally. In sickness and in health, then I started to see some weird changes in him. The first thing I notice was, he never kissed. It Always made me feel like something was wrong and I always made sure to excessively brush and keep gum at all times. I brought it up one time in a conversation and his excuse was he has a short tongue. :/ ha! That was a new one for me, I've heard all excuses in my life except that one :/ Anyway, he also did lots of things in which made me feel uncomfortable, like for example. One time I got sick and all he did was spray the entire can of Lysol on the bed and the house, very Looney I must say...even when my kids get sick he freaks! I know when someone gets sick you have to wash your hands and all, and be careful, but he takes it to the extreme. He seems paranoid at all times. I can't even go to a mall and go shopping b/c he's afraid of ppl. He's only hobby is fishing, and I don’t mind fishing, I love fishing! However I come from a family who loves to go out enjoy ppl, and have friends. Yesterday I was feeling so tired, my body ache, I was sneezing, and had a headache. I suffer from sinus infections all the time. As soon as my boyfriend notice and I told him I wasn't feeling good right away he kept himself out of our room. When it was time for his bed time he totally behave like a jerk, came into the room and said the room stunk like something...I tried to ignore him, but he kept saying it and ask for the Lysol again to spray the bed and the room… I felt humiliated, offended, sad, I thought to myself, that I can’t even get sick…We argue, after that I didn’t want to sleep in the same room, he says I’m acting irrational, and that I’m over reacting, but he always hurts my feelings when he behaves like this…I feel like he’s the one acting crazy over ppl getting a cold :( or getting sick. I don’t know what to do? Is this normal for a person? I've never met anyone like him. he has changed so much...the sad thing is I love this man and want to help, I heard ppl like him are Germaphobic or something?
